Chow the Villager

It was my brothers birthday this month so I decided to make him an Animal Crossing themed gift. His favorite villager is chow so I decided to make him a giant perler bead Chow head.

Remember… I’m always watching you.

Zipper WonderLand & Super Mario

Zipper Wonderland Event was super fun. I really enjoyed collecitng all of the furniture. I was also able to level up while playing this event. I am now at a level 78 in Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. YAY!

I really enjoy the customizability of appearances in Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. I really enjoy creating mayors that look very unique.

Below you can see Mitzi, Merengue & Kid Cat jumping to bump the The Super Mario event blocks. I really enjoyed the Super Mario Event. I collected 8 Princess Peach crowns to place on all of my cat villagers.

I think that all the cats enjoy their Princess Peach crowns. Before I switched them to their new crowns I had them in all in halos.

Etoíle Cosplay

This was my first ever cosplay!! I decided early on that I wanted to cosplay a villager from Animal Crossing.  I new at that point most people would probably not know who I was. That allowed me to choose a villager that I liked versus choosing a villager that I thought people would recognize. Since I LOVE Etoíle I decided to cosplay her.

In the first dress rehearsal I was still working on her stars. Etoíle has two stars on her head. One is pink and one is blue. Than she has there yellow stars and one blue one on her scarf. She also has little flecks of yellow in her wool. I created all of these pieces out of polymer clay. Then I glued safety pins on the back so I could secure them on the scarf.

Animal Crossing Villagers portray A LOT of emotions so I tried to improve a few shots of me showing anger, sadness, frustration, an idea, disgust, fear…etc.

I had a blast at Silicon Valley Comic Con! It was the first Comic Con that I have ever attended. This was a major life goal achieved. All through college and the last couple of years I have been too busy to make cosplaying a priority. I was super excited to work on costume and makeup design. I did theatre all through my early education and would sketch costume and makeup designs on my free time.

I purchased the dress on Amazon. I thought it was the perfect color and material. I have very wide hips that make it difficult to purchase dresses. I ordered a large instead of medium in case I needed to alter it. It’s always easier to remove fabric then add it. I ended up needing the large so that it would fit my bum, and then I altered the chest.

Etoíle has yellow horns but I chose to cosplay her with golden horns. Her name means Star in French. So technically a star should be shining and golden…? Am I right? lol I chose to increase the glittery theme and I used pink glitter liquid eyeliner on my nose, eyebrows, eyes and upper lip.

During the cosplay test run my makeup was very successful. My makeup for Silicon Valley Comic Con was not as seamless. That’s ok though, because sometimes it’s just about the fun of the process. The makeup that I used is pictured below. I found all of it on Amazon.

Samshine Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Update

I am currently at level 76. I am LOVING the Zipper Wonderland Event that is going on. I was super excited to get the wonderland cat hood. I found it easier to catch the eggs than than past events. My villagers are reaching level 20 and thankfully I am still receiving rewards from them after I finish a task.

The Super Mario event going on. That has been a blast collecting the green and red mushrooms. I also really enjoy the leaf tickets that are gifted if you finish building one of the event items. I was super excited to get enough mushrooms to create Princess Peach’s crown. I am hoping to make more than one but these mushrooms are difficult to collect.

Samshine Animal Crossing Pocket Camp

Leveling up in Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. I have been enjoying all the events. The fishing tournament was super fun. I like to wear a different outfit each time I level up. I finished upgrading the tree house. I really love the way it turned out.

I love Animal Crossing Pocket Camp so much. It is so fun to play this game on my phone through out the day. I’ve been giving all of my villagers halos. You can see I have give the BB shirt to Stitches, along with a halo. I’ve been playing Animal Crossing Pocket Camp so much this week that I haven’t check on my New Leaf towns.

Isabelle Wool Felting

I have always enjoyed felting with raw wool. There is something very therapeutic about stabbing material with the felting needles. It’s very stress releasing. Life gets stressful… Ok but..back to being not creepy.

I cut a foam ball in half and wrapped the raw wool around it. That’s a trick that saves the amount of wool needed.  It also keeps the shape and integrity of the piece. I did not put foam inside of Isabelle’s hair puffs. Those were small enough to use raw wool.

I used two different colors but they were VERY similar shades of yellow. I was using what I had so… I am trying to reduce the amount of material spending. I prefer to use as much of what I have before I buy more materials. Materials add up and this is my creative passion. One of many… I am a Gemini.. I can’t help it.

I cut out the eyes, nose, eyebrows, and mouth out of flat felt sheets. I then worked the raw wool in my hand to create the mouth, ears, bangs, hair do, and hair band. You can see the difference in what the wool looks like before using the felting needles.

I was IN LOVE with how this turned out. I am super excited to make more wool villagers. So far this has been my favorite material to work with.

Isabelle Themed Rewards on Patroen

I’ve been working on an Isabelle box set for my Patreon rewards. It’s been a dream come true to finally work with these different mediums to make characters from Animal Crossing. I’ve been planning and saving. Last week and tonight I finally was able to take action and bring a few of these goals to life. I still have time to improve my skills but for now I’ve at least started the process. Each medium I’ve had a personal experience with.

Perler Beads –

Picking out each individual bead takes a long time and is painful on my back. I learned to just pay the extra dollar to buy the packs of 1 color versus getting them in mixed bags. Knowing this I will still snatch up any sweet dealed bags of perlers while thrifting. I also learned that I change what I want repeatedly which is annoying when you’re moving each bead one or two at a time. I found that with perler beads I need to know what I’m doing ahead of time. Before I bring the beads out onto my desk I have to have a plan of the bead design. Otherwise I’ll be there moving beads back and forth forever and ever… Lol

Felt –

I’ve worked with raw wool felt before. I went into this experience with that perspective. Wrong! What I should’ve done was start off with a sharp pair of scissors. Instead, I used a few different mediocre pairs until I found the sharpest. Once I found the sharpest scissors I was able to cut the right angles and shapes. Having the right tools is key.

Stickers –

Creating digital art is awesome! I appreciate the ability to save multiple options and take it in different directions. I start by using Paint to draw the villager and then I take it into Topaz Impressions to add filters that cause effects on the paint style and texture. Then I create the page that’ll be printed to become stickers. I printed 5 differentiated versions of these stickers until I got the right color. Then I printed them on glossy photo paper and put them through the sticker machine. I seem to have the hardest time picking print safe colors. So that’s something I’m still working on.

Polymer Clay –

Let’s just start out by saying that I’m getting acquainted with clay work. My figurines are a work in progress. I’m still working on hand placement so as not to imlprint the clay. Keeping tools, hands, and surfaces clean so as not to mix colors or get colors onto the wrong places. I’m also learning about the order of the placement of the clay and sizing. I keep making the eyes too big. Lol my leaf making skills seemed to improve with each one. I mixed the color sculpey 3 clay with premo clay in order to strengthen its durability. I look forward to making more Isabelle heads.

Things on my mind:

I want to make an Isabelle head in raw wool. I have made figurines in wool before but it’s been a long time because my wool needles broke and I need to replace them.

I want to make an Isabelle head & body stamp made out of rubber. I’ll have to order rubber and then I can use my laser cutter to outline the stamp and then I’ll go in and cut even deeper to establish the stamp.

Once I have stamps I can create custom Isabelle stationary.

St Patrick’s Day in Pocket Camp

St Patricks Day in Pocket Camp was super fun. I really enjoyed dressing up the villagers in my campsite in green outfits to commemorate St. Patricks day. I am working on adding more blogpost about my Animal Crossing Pocket Camp.

I decided to wear the awesome shamrock hat that was gifted from Pocket Camp. Then I wore the shamrock blazer, green plaid shorts, white stockings, and figure skate shoes. I was super excited to level up to 72 during the St Patricks event.

The images above I have Stitches, Bob, Filbert, and Kyle. I arranged the large crystal in a circle with the round spring flower bed in the middle. I used the gothic rose rug under the crystals and flower bed. I really love the way this looks. I know I will change it over time but for now It is one of my favorite designs.
